This article is sponsored by the adoption agency in Hartford, CT, from Adoptions From The Heart. Hartford is full of fun attractions, entertainment, and things to explore for both families and friends. Two of our favorite spots for families to visit are Bushnell Park and Connecticut Science Center.
Bushnell Park Carousel
The vintage carousel found inside Bushnell Park has been standing since 1914 and has brought tons of enjoyment for families over the decades. The carousel is made up of 48 hand-carved wooden horses, two lovers’ chariots, and a band organ in the center. The over 100-year-old carousel has been managed and restored by the Knox Foundation. The foundation is responsible for maintaining the craftsmanship of the wooden horses, which were inspired by Russian immigrants Solomon Stein and Harry Goldstein.
Today, guests are welcomed to take a ride of the gorgeous pieces of history for only $2 dollar a person on Saturdays and Sundays.
Connecticut Science Center
The Connecticut Science Center provides boundless discovery for children, teenagers, and adults, with over 165 hands-on exhibits, a state-of-the-art 3D digital theater, four instructional labs, interactive displays, and daily activities and events. Visitors may learn about anything from physics to criminology, geology to astronomy.
The Science Center is Connecticut’s leading destination for science educational resources and is well on its way to becoming the state’s foremost Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) resource. Exhibits offered in the museum provide unique programs that showcase new methods and models, partnerships from leading companies and organizations, and educational involvements from benefactors.
While visiting the museum, be sure to catch one of their special events such as storytimes, live gallery interactive science shows, the mummy exhibition, the Butterfly Winter Wonderland, and so much more.
Overnights At The Museum
If you’re looking for a fun party idea for friends and family, consider a rare opportunity to have a sleepover in the Connecticut Science Museum. During this unique after-hours experience, explore the exhibitions, learn about special programming, and set up camp in front of your favorite display with all your favorite people.
