International Home Studies

Adoptions From The Heart has helped thousands of families adopt overseas.  We have completed thousands of International Home Studies and are licensed to work with families in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

International Home Studies

There are two processes for adopting a child overseas that AFTH can help you with.

Orphan:
AFTH is able to complete Home Studies for Orphan (non-hague) cases

Hague:
If you are adopting from a country that is part of the Hague Convention on International Adoption you will need to have a different type of home study done.  AFTH has provider agreements with many Primary Provider Agencies in accordance with the Universal Accreditation Act (UAA) that went into effect on July 14, 2014.  If such an agreement is not already in place between AFTH and another agency, AFTH can contact the other agency and seek to establish such an agreement.

If an Independent Adoption is being attempted a family must work with a Primary Provider in order to complete the adoption.  In such cases AFTH may be able to suggest a Primary Provider with whom AFTH already works as a Supervised Provider.

AFTH provides education on international adoption if requested. AFTH can provide all required Post-Placement and Post-Adoption services as a Supervised Provider once an agreement with a Primary Provider has been established.
