29 years…
Last Sunday, Adoptions From The Heart hosted their 29th Annual Family Picnic, hosted at Fort Washington State Park in Flourtown, Pennsylvania. Hundreds of people joined us for a day of celebration and to honor families built through adoption. Our picnic allows adoptive parents and birth parents to reunite and recognize all members of the adoption triad, as well as open adoption.
This year we had tons of yummy snacks and food, including Tony Roni’s delicious tomato pies and a variety of mouth-watering cookies from Insomnia Cookies. We also had hot dogs fresh from the grill and Philadelphia’s Cheese E Wagon food truck was serving up delicious cheesy favorites.
New this year was live music from a local band called Under This Fire. They performed a few of their original songs, and covered many popular hits that children and adults alike enjoyed dancing to.
Thanks to our wonderful face painters, children transformed into princesses, mermaids, super heroes and much more! They also got the chance to showcase their artsy side at our arts & crafts station, where they could build a bug or paint a picture for mom or dad. And just before heading out, kids made a quick stop at our give a way table, which was loaded with free toys and prizes.
And of course, we couldn’t forget about the adults. Awesome raffle prizes were available, including a Tour of Philly basket, A Girls & Guys Night Out baskets, and more. There was even a vacation basket that gave the lucky winner a week-long stay at their choice from a list of over 100 relaxing destinations!
One adoptive father, Jeff attended the event for the first time this year “I just wanted to tell you that we attended our 1st picnic yesterday and it was truly amazing,” He went on to say, “From the location, the raffles, the food, and all the activities to do it was such a great day. Thank you so much to all the AFTH workers that worked so hard to put it together. We can’t wait for next year!!
Until AFTH Picnic 2018…
The Adoptions From The Heart Annual Family Picnic was a success and we are already excited for next year. After talking with many attendees, we found that it was a lot of families’ first year attending the event. We hope even more new families grown through adoption can join us in 2018 for food, music, games, and fun.
