You’ve decided that you want to adopt a child – congratulations! You’re about to embark on an amazing journey through which you will grow your family.
You’re likely wondering what your next steps are and you may not yet know if you would like to pursue international or domestic adoption. Let the Adoption From The Heart counselors answer all of your questions.
For example, did you know that contrary to popular belief, the cost of domestic adoption is about the same as international adoption? Or that around 18,000 infants are adopted yearly in the United States? Or that it doesn’t typically take years to get matched with a child – in fact, the majority of our prospective parents are matched in less than 12 months.
Our goal at Adoptions From The Heart is to make sure that this process goes as smoothly as possible for you. We can help you with your home study, link you to financial and legal resources, introduce you to other prospective parents in a supportive environment, and help you create a profile about you and your family which will then be placed in our database for birth mothers to review.
Our Virginia office is located in Chesapeake, convenient to Suffolk. We encourage you to call and speak with one of our counselors now to learn more about our team and how we can assist you.

Open Adoptions
If you’ve recently been told that you are pregnant and you are exploring your options, our adoption counselors are here to answer all of your questions. Although we are an adoption agency, we want each woman to fully understand each option regardless of her decision.
If you determine that you would like to move forward with adoption, one of our counselors will be assigned to you. This person will be there for you through the entire adoption process and can help you find housing, find medical insurance for you and your child, can help you create a hospital plan, and can also help you determine how much contact you would like to have in the future with your child and their adoptive parents.
Open adoption can mean contact may be as simple as the exchange of letters each year or visits. The amount of contact is decided by you prior to the adoption.
We know how stressful the adoption process can be which is why we also provide access to support groups for all birth parents. Our goal is ensure that you have our continued support for as long as you need it – even after the adoption.
