Bellevue State Park is one of our favorites – we love their variety of programs and combination of manmade and natural beauty. Some of our favorite aspects of this park include:

Arts Center

The Bellevue Arts Center hosts a variety of programs which cater to all age groups. Common themes include arts & crafts, the environment, the history of the park and ways to have fun during your visit to the park. The Arts Center holds a weekly outdoor lunchtime concert every Wednesday from April through September.

Bellevue Hall

This park is named for Bellevue Hall, the former mansion of William du Pont, Jr. Today, this ornate Gothic Revival castle is used as the setting for meetings, receptions, and other gatherings. It was designed as a replica of President James Madison’s home, Montpelier. The home is also open to both public and private tours. We highly recommend taking a tour if you have any interest in Gothic architecture, as the decor and furnishings are truly stunning.

Trails

Bellevue State Park features three trails for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders:

Equestrian Trail

This trail is available for hiking or horseback riding and runs through some of the most beautiful sections of the park, including the Bellevue Woods Nature Preserve, gardens, the Percheron Barn, the Arts Center, and the Equestrian Training Center.

Nature Preserve Trail

This hiking and horseback riding trail starts near the entrance booth and runs through a section of the Equestrian Trail in the Bellevue Woods Nature Preserve, over a small creek, and along an open meadow.

Oval Track

Formerly used as a horse track, the Oval Track is used today for walking and biking. The track also features workout stations that encourage visitors to engage in various fitness and stretching exercises.

Tennis Center

If you enjoy a good game of tennis during the warmer parts of the year, Bellevue State Park has you covered. Their tennis facility has eight clay courts next to Bellevue Hall. The staff here always offers friendly service and the Center runs several tennis programs, both instructional and social. You can also take tennis lessons and get your racquet strung here.

Summer Camps
