Everyone says “it is more fun to give than receive,” and that is true! As a parent, there is nothing better than watching your child’s eyes widen with glee and expressing gratitude. A child feels special when they receive a gift as a result of exemplifying good behavior.

The truth is that there are birth parents who choose to make an adoption plan due to their financial situation. There are many expecting parents already raising children who make an adoption plan because they are currently struggling to support themselves and their older children. Some birth parents are working up to three jobs and still just scraping by to provide their families with the necessities of food and shelter. Buying holiday gifts are out of the question due to the circumstances.

It is important to our agency that we help birth parents from low-income families the chance to gift the children they parent and those they placed. Gift cards from stores like Walmart, Target, Acme, Giant, Wegmans are perfect. These are the stores that can help birth parents purchase gifts for their children, and even help with meal prep for a holiday family dinner. Those who wish to donate money to the Gift Card Drive in lieu of an actual gift card may do so as well. Our social workers will use the monetary donations to go out and purchase gift cards themselves and deliver them to their clients.
