Adoptions From The Heart is hosting its second Heart-to-Heart virtual event of the year on August 1, 2024. This conversation will focus on members of the LGBTQIA community and share their adoption experiences. The event will be held on Zoom and begin at 7 p.m. est.

AFTH is proud to be welcoming to families from all walks of life. The agency’s non-discriminatory policies ensure that beautiful families are built despite their differences. Parenting a child as a non-traditional family can create its own unique set of challenges, which is why AFTH created the Heart-to-Heart events. AFTH understands that even after signing paperwork the need for support continues. These events aim to strengthen communication amongst the adoption triad and establish supportive communities. As Pride Month has recently ended, AFTH wants to continue the conversation around LGBTQIA couples and adoption.

About the Event

The event will include a panel of four same-sex couples who will speak on various topics, including misconceptions about parenting as a same-sex couple and the support they received from AFTH and their peers. This blog post by AFTH includes a full description of topics covered during the event. The panel will also include birth mothers who will share why they chose to place their baby with an LGBTQIA couple.

Tuning in to this conversation can be beneficial to fellow LGBTQIA couples who have started or are considering starting their own adoption journey. They can expect to find a supportive community through this Heart-to-Heart conversation.

Registration and Donations

All are welcome to the event. While it is Free to attend, donations are accepted. At registration, attendees can choose to donate various amounts that will go towards AFTH’s services for all clients. Additionally, these donations will also provide attendees with a certain number of raffle tickets that they can use to enter the virtual raffles held during the event.
