Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library

Childhood development is extremely important to the adoption agency in Pittsburgh, PA, which is why they have sponsored this article to encourage parents to visit this innovative lending library.

The Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library was created in 1974 by a group of parents who saw the need for an organization that would lend toys, inform the community about the value of play in children’s development, and provide a place for children and their parents/caregivers to play together.

The PTLL remains a volunteer-run organization providing an indoor play area and allowing families to borrow toys for home use. Although they support play at all stages of development, they focus on early childhood and represent families with children from birth to kindergarten.

Located in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood, our playspace features plenty of toys that promote creative play, gross-motor growth, and artistic speech.

Place Space

At PTLL, the play space was designed to allow children to expel energy while adding educational enjoyment provided by their staffed members, exclusively from their membership community.

Besides having play stations to develop small motor and cognitive skills, the space has a wide array of toys for imaginative play. A section of the play space is dedicated to books for the enjoyment of your child while they’re at the toy library as well.

For all stages of development, there is also a gated area for supervised play for infants: pre-rolling, rollers, crawlers, and other little ones that are learning how to crawl.

Art Space

The art space as designed to allow children and their parents to paint, color, do arts and crafts, play with play dough, create collages, and make necklaces and bracelets. You can choose from an endless amount of possibilities for fun, interactive entertainment.

Lending Library

About 400 toys are available to borrow from the library. They are divided into categories that include infant development, gross and motor skill development, cognitive development, creative play, and arts.
