Etna, PA

The borough of Etna is a part of Allegheny County along the Allegheny River on the opposite side of Pittsburgh. Through outreach and regeneration, Etna is concentrating on social and environmental justice for its people, environment, and neighbors. Etna was named the first-ever EcoDistrict in 2019. Etna, which is part of the Triboro EcoDistrict, is unique in its acknowledgment of visual arts and emphasis on the necessity of artistic expression.

Etna is entirely surrounded by Shaler Township, with the borough of Sharpsburg to the southeast being its only other border. Millvale is located near Etna, and it’s only a short distance from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Arts & Culture

In the last two weeks of September, Etna holds an annual Art Tour. Tours of local art workshops, local food trucks and eateries, neighborhood stores, and live music are all part of the Etna Art Tour. On October 22nd, 2021, the Etna Riverfront Trail opened to the public. The Etna section of the Riverfront trail project will connect Millvale, The North Shore, Sharpsburg, and Aspinwall Riverfront Parks with a bike route accessible for visitors.

Statistics from the United States Census of 2000 shared that there were 3,924 people residing in Etna with 1,749 households and 981 families. The racial diversity of the area includes:

The median household income for the area was about $31,529, and for families, it was more at $41,577.
