Wickham Park, a non-profit and private foundation, extends into both East Hartford and Manchester with over 280 acres of land filled with grasslands, picnic areas, forests, gardens, sports facilities, sports fields, small ponds and streams, and other enjoyed attractions.

History

Clarence H. Wickham owned a majority of the land, about 130 acres, and instructed the land would become a park once his wife, Edith Wickham, passed away. Another chunk of land, roughly 67 acres owned by Myrtle Williams, was given to the park in 1967, bringing the total acres to just around 200. Wickham Park continued to expand with the additional purchase of land, which has brought it to its massive 280 acres of space today.

Clarence Wickham included a large amount of his financial estate to help fund operating expenses, maintenance, and restoration of the park upon his death in 1945. Today, the Park continues to provide visitors enjoyment and recreational activities amongst its natural beauty.

Attractions

The Park is full of activities and attractions for everyone to appreciate, such as Disc Golf, Aviary, Nature Center & Museum, sports facilities, playgrounds, and concessions.
