Virginia is a naturally beautiful state, with gorgeous mountains, beaches, forests, lakes, and nature preserves. Our Virginia adoption agents think it’s important for families to spend quality time together in the beautiful great outdoors of this state. Here are some of our favorite places to camp in Chesapeake and surrounding areas:

North Bay Shore Campground

North Bay Shore Campground is located in Virginia Beach, but we think it’s worth the drive if you’re looking for a spot to camp near the shore. Their campsites are quietly nestled away from any major roadways and have access to Back Bay. They’re also surrounded by the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge.

Some of our favorite offerings at North Bay Shore Campground include:

Davis Lakes & Campgrounds

If your family is more into RV camping, then your best bet is probably Davis Lakes and Campground in Suffolk. The campgrounds rest on three lakes, which are definitely the biggest draw. Parking the RV here for a weekend camping trip of lake swimming, cookouts, and games is always a great summer family trip.

  • Boating
  • Cornhole
  • Outdoor games
  • AquaGlide (seasonal)

Little Creek JEB Campground

If you’re looking for a rustic campground near Virginia Beach, we think Little Creek JEB Campground is a good choice. They have RV pads with full hookups for running water, sewer, electricity, and cable. Other highlights include trees, a bathhouse, a laundry facility, a picnic pavilion, and a large firepit.
