Self-Care Workshop for Birthparents

The benefits of self-care exceed a single reason. It can result in a more physical, mental, and emotional well-being, which could then divvy into smaller, more intricate pieces. It’s important to note that birthparent support does not solely have to be financial or counsel. Sometimes, something as modest as showing how important it is to put one’s self first, at times, falls under the same umbrella.

On February 9, 2022, Adoptions From The Heart hosted a Self-Care Workshop for Birthparents. AFTH worked alongside Gina Marie Hutchison Sampson to really make this workshop a special one. There they covered topics such as Learning how to shift your mindset to create a positive thought process, Finding resources/tools to spark clarity and purpose in your daily lives, and Encouraging yourself to look within, to find confidence moving forward.

At the workshop, Gina and the ladies focused on four areas of self-care, the power of smiling, understanding how thoughts create realities, meditation, and taking care of yourself; mind, body, and spirit. In the discussions, acknowledging emotions were brought up because it is known that avoiding emotion could lead to discomfort and emotional congestion. Gina helped everyone realize that thoughts can create emotion and how changing how you think can change how you feel.

The workshop covered meditation and how the power of breathing should be incorporated into your daily routine to help remind you to pause and think and check in with yourself. How we talk to ourselves can define how we feel also, which is why it’s so important to find things we love within.

We Thank you so much, Gina for working with Adoptions From The Heart,  as she donated her time and energy to our birthmothers, and really gave them some helpful tools they can use to refocus their energy in life. Thanks to amazing people like Gina, Adoptions From the Heart is continuously able to provide endless support to birth parents and the adoption community.
