History
Once owned by Major John Ormsby, one of the first Pittsburgh settlers, Carrick was given to the Major by King George III in 1763 as a token of gratitude for his service during the French and Indian War. Later in 1853, the United States Postal Service was given permission to build a location, soon after named Carrick, after Carrick-On-Suir, Ireland.
In 1994 the town became a borough and was later changed to be a part of the City of Pittsburgh.
