The summer break is here, but it is never too early to start planning for the fall. Our Birth Parent Scholarship is officially underway. We are currently accepting applications and will review them soon.

Our Birth Parent Scholarship Fund is open to birth parents enrolled or planning to enroll in a college, university, or vocational program. Graduate students are welcome to apply as well! Each spring and fall semester, we award up to $5,000 to our scholarship recipients to help cover their tuition. The scholarship is open to birth parents who have placed with any agency. Applicants do not need to place or have placed with our agency to qualify.

To be eligible for the Birth Parent Scholarship, you must be:
  • A birth parent who placed the child for adoption in 1985 or after
  • Accepted into a trade school, college, or university
  • Able to demonstrate financial need (documentation such as W-2s required)
When applying, you must include:
  • A personal essay about your adoption journey (500-word limit)
  • A letter of recommendation from someone who knows you well (from an employer, teacher, social worker, etc.)

The deadline to apply for the Fall 2021 semester is July 1. After this date, our Board of Directors Scholarship Committee will begin reviewing the applications. Please note the only complete applications with all the required materials will be considered.

We hope to see many applications this semester. We also welcome our previous recipients to reapply! Previous scholarship winners are eligible to receive awards for up to eight semesters. To qualify for an additional scholarship, you must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher, provide an official transcript from your most recent semester, and submit your application online before the deadline.

We are proud to offer our Birth Parent Scholarship. Our agency strives to help birth parents in any way we can. Helping our birth parents secure their future by reaching their career goals is one of the greatest ways we can do that.
