“I can never thank you enough for the Christmas gift, you gave me and my girls!” – Kristen, AFTH birth mother

As Andy Williams so gleefully puts it, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” With the sweet scent of peppermint in the air, pre-lit reindeers glimmering on nearly every lawn, and re-runs of Miracle on 34th Street – it’s almost impossible to disagree. However, for some, the arrival of the holiday season is a vivid reminder of the financial challenges they are facing; and for families that are less fortunate it is anything but the hap – happiest season of all.

At AFTH we work with many birth parents who have created an adoption plan for their baby, but are also parenting other children. These men and women often encounter financial hardship and struggle with things like – finding safe and permanent housing, feeding their families and paying bills. The holiday season can already be considerably tough for those who have placed a child – which is why ever year, AFTH makes it our mission to deliver joy through our holiday Gift-Card Drive. Gift cards are given to parents and children – so they can purchase food, clothing, toys or what is needed to make their holiday a little more special.

“We are so grateful to be celebrating another year of AFTH’s Gift-Card Drive,” said Maxine Chalker, Executive Director and CEO of Adoptions From The Heart. “Thanks to the generosity of AFTH supporters and donors, we are able to give back to so many.”

The past two years, AFTH has distributed over $25,000 worth of gift cards, making Christmas possible for families in great need. Bringing happiness during the holidays leaves a lasting impact – by changing lives and increasing hope throughout the community.

“With no job or any income whatsoever, I was thinking of ways to tell my son why Santa would not be stopping at our house this year,” said Desiree, AFTH birth mother. “These gift cards just saved my son’s Christmas. I’m so thankful!”

With our dedicated supporters, AFTH can uphold our mission of building beautiful families – and continue our work of touching lives through giving back.
