The Camden Waterfront has developed a great deal in the past couple of decades. The BB&T Pavilion is one of our favorite venues in this area, with a variety of fun concerts, theatrical productions, and other entertainment. This year-round facility is an outdoor amphitheater during the summer and transforms into a fully enclosed, climate-controlled, and flexible-capacity theater during the fall and winter months. Our New Jersey adoption professionals love visiting the BB&T Pavilion for a variety of concerts and other entertaining events with our families.
Summer Amphitheater
During the summer, the facility operates as a 25,488 capacity outdoor amphitheater, featuring a lawn with video screens, a stage, and a premium-quality sound system. We love coming here for concerts, and the backdrop featuring the Philadelphia skyline, Ben Franklin Bridge, and Delaware River always makes for a beautiful night with live music in the outdoors. You can even make a whole day trip out of your visit to Camden by swinging by the nearby Battleship New Jersey, Wiggins Park, or Adventure Aquarium before the show.
Some noteworthy entertainers who have performed at BB&T Pavilion in Summer 2018 include:
- Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band
- Foo Fighters
- Steely Dan & the Doobie Brothers
- Kevin Hart
- Weezer & The Pixies
- Zac Brown Band
- The War On Drugs & Sturgill Simpson
- Rascal Flatts & Dan and Shay
We love bringing a big picnic blanket to lay out on the lawn and enjoy summer concerts under the stars. This is one of our favorite summer family activities in the South Jersey area.
History of the Venue
The BB&T Pavilion opened in 1995, but under a different name. It was originally called the Blockbuster-Sony Music Entertainment Centre at the Waterfront from 1995-2001. On April 1, 2001, the amphitheater was renamed as the Tweeter Center at the Waterfront. It stayed this way until 2008, when it was renamed the Susquehanna Bank Center. In 2015, BB&T bought Susquehanna Bank and the venue was renamed BB&T Pavilion. But even with all the sponsorship and name changes, this venue has remained true to its nature as a picturesque amphitheater during the warmer months and a smaller enclosed concert and entertainment venue during the fall and winter.
Getting To The BB&T Pavilion From Philadelphia
If you’re traveling to the venue from Philadelphia, be aware that driving in and out of the area can be a hassle. Traffic can easily become overwhelming. We recommend taking the river link ferry from Penns Landing if you’re coming from the city. The ferry is fast, cheap, and extremely convenient.
