Located within Allegheny County, Crafton is a borough found west of Pittsburgh. Crafton is located across Chartiers Creek between Thornburg to the west and Rosslyn Farms to the southwest. History

James S. Craft, a frontier lawyer who was awarded land near Oakland, is responsible for the name of the borough.  The proceeds from the sale of this property were used to help finance the acquisition of land in the Chartiers Valley. After his father’s death, Charles Craft split the land into lots and filed it to the Allegheny County Courthouse as Crafton.

The borough was formed on January 8, 1892, after a period of construction, with Charles as the first townsman. Upon the established borough, in 1896, the trolley connected both Crafton to downtown Pittsburgh which helped transportation tremendously. Unfortunately, the operation of the trolley was haulted after the Fort Pitt Bridge was constructed without trolley tracks.
