AFTH Summer 2022 Family Picnic Recap
Can you believe it? Our family picnics have now come and gone for the year, and as we reflect on each event, Adoptions From the Heart is happy that we were able to bring them back to their former glory! Being in person for the first time in two years gave AFTH and our adoptive families the interconnection needed to appreciate all that open adoption has allowed us to experience with one another. We were lucky to have picnics in Connecticut, Pennsylvania (Wynnewood and Pittsburgh), New York, and Virginia! For over thirty years, we’ve been using this event to celebrate the beautiful families brought together through adoption while having family fun and creating memories. Our picnics have something for everybody featuring crafts, lawn games, music, food, and even raffle opportunities the whole family can win!
This year the Wynnewood picnic had lots of snacks and food like grilled hot dogs, fruits, snack bars, ice cream, and a variety of potato chips and drinks everyone could enjoy. We secured an ice cream truck to provide each attendee with free ice cream! And of course, we couldn’t forget about the adults! Fantastic raffle prizes were available for adults, including those that had activities they could share with the children. Raffles this year included tickets to HersheyPark or Dorney Park, a family experience to the Crayola Factory, an at-home gym kit, to even a self-care basket full of different restaurant gift cards! However, the kids were all winners at the picnic; each receiving a free toy or prize at our welcome table!
New this year at Wynnewood picnic was our amazing DJ, Dj Rambo, who brought lots of fun goodies, including a 360 photo booth that all families thoroughly enjoyed and got to experience. For Hours, DJ Rambo played family friendly songs as our families danced and sung their hearts out; he even joined in on the fun! The children attendees enjoyed arts and crafts where they could build a bunny face, a bug, and even a mermaid for mom or dad. While Wynnewood is our largest picnic, every other picnic had the same taste of the fun, celebrating open adoption with families and members of the agencies all along the east coast!
