Meet Debbie Spivack
Spivack, of the Law Offices of Deborah E. Spivack, is a native of Yardley, PA and now resides in Cherry Hill, NJ and primarily services families in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware areas. “I represent adoptive parents, birth parents, agencies and children in domestic private, agency, step-parent, second parent, foreign re-adoption, guardianship and Special Immigrant Juvenile cases,” Debbie explains in her personal bio. She is a member of the American Academy of the Adoption Attorneys as well as the American Academy of Assisted Reproductive Technology Attorneys.
Spivack graduated with a undergraduate degree in Business from Penn State University and later graduated from Widener Law School.
Early in her career, Spivack worked as an attorney in corporate bankruptcy and corporate law. However, as time went on, Spivack felt far removed from using her training to make a positive difference. After a family member was touched by adoption, she realized how transformative it was for the people involved. She immediately took steps to change the focus of her career. She wanted to use her skills to advocate for people’s most fundamental rights.
An Average Day
An average day for this attorney is, as she would describe, “jam packed!” Every day is different, but usually consist of phone calls and running to courthouses , meetings and hospitals! Spivack practices in 3 states so she spends a fair amount of time in the car. It’s a luxury for her to have a quite office day to draft and research. Recently she has worked on these elements after her regular day in the office. However, every once in a while, she gets to squeeze in a hug for a baby! No matter what her day consists of, she is always aiming to support clients in an important and often emotional time in their lives!
Best Part of the Job
Spivack’s favorite part of her job was hard to decide. She enjoys finalization hearings not only for the happy endings, but also for all of the work coming to fruition. Additionally, Spivack loves being able to help adoptive parents of special needs children get the support they need. She shared that “These clients embody the very best of human nature and are truly inspiring to work with.”
