Christmas is always a special time for a child, when it comes to opening new gifts under the tree. In reality, Christmas can also be a hard financial burden for those who are already struggling. There are many birth parents who are struggling to support themselves and the children they are raising. Every year at Adoptions From the Heart, we have a gift card drive during the end of the year. The purpose for this Gift Card Drive is so that we can help Birth Parents in need to provide groceries, clothing, or toys during the holiday season. This year we are starting early, with our Christmas in July Gift Card Drive campaign!
What is Christmas in July?
We understand that the holiday season can be the happiest time and also the most challenging as some are not able to provide food or new toys for their families. AFTH makes sure that we ensure that birth parents have access to the resources they need to provide for themselves and their families. We are starting our initiative early this year and hope to raise more money by the end of the year!
How it works is that our social workers will nominate families in need and we will give each Birth Parents gift cards to certain stores such as Walmart, Target, and Wegmans. Our organization focuses on assisting birth parents who may be facing financial hardships all year round but our gift card drive is one of our favorite ways to do so. It shows these families that they are not alone and that others care about their well-being. Last year in 2023, we gave over $10,000 from our gift card drive. The impact is amazing but there is still more work to do this year!
Why Donate?
Prior to the holidays, AFTH identifies women who have placed their children for adoption but are still parenting other children and are in need of financial assistance. We donate gift cards for groceries, clothing and toys for the holidays. For many, this is the only way they can do something special for their children.
Donating to families in need can show a family who is struggling and let them know that we are there to support them through their hardships. It is a tangible way to show you care while making a difference in birth parent’s lives during the holiday season.

How to Donate
There are several ways you can help! First, you can help by making a monetary donation online. We are trying to reach a goal of $5,000 by the end of the year. At the end of the year we will take the money raised and purchase gift cards to give to our birth parents. The second way to help is to donate a gift card. We will be accepting Target, Walmart, Acme, Wegmans, Giant and Visa Gift cards in denominations ranging from $25-$200.
