If you’re a fan of Broadway musicals, concerts, or any other live performance, you don’t need to go to a nearby big city like Philadelphia or New York to take in a show. Wilmington’s The Grand is a non-profit arts organization with three venues in Wilmington, where you can take in some of the most famous Broadway shows and other performances. Our Wilmington adoption professionals love taking family trips here to enjoy musicals and other shows. Here are some upcoming performances at The Grand venues that we’re looking forward to:

Finding Neverland

Based on the Oscar-winning film of the same name and directed by Tony-winner Diane Paulus, Finding Neverland is a family-friendly musical that will appeal to audiences of all ages. This play was also the winner of the Broadway.com Audience Choice Award for Best Musical

Finding Neverland tells the backstory of Peter Pan. Playwright J.M. Barrie is struggling with writer’s block when he meets four young brothers and their widowed mother. The boys have magical make-believe adventures and inspire Barrie to write a play that will captivate London theatergoers. Eventually, Barrie takes the plunge from reality into Neverland.

Finding Neverland will be at The Playhouse from February 7 through February 10, 2019.

Legally Blonde: The Musical

This classic comedy film has come to Broadway in musical form. Legally BlondeThe Musical follows Elle Woods as she transforms into a formidable lawyer while battling stereotypes and doubters along the way. The musical is, in our opinion, just as funny and engaging as the film and has valuable themes of woman empowerment.

You can catch Legally Blonde: The Musical at the Playhouse on February 23 and 24, 2019.

Something Rotten!

Something Rotten! is a hilarious comedy-musical that takes place at the turn of the 17th century, in 1595. Nick and Nigel Bottom are two brothers who are trying to write a smash hit play. A local soothsayer tells them that the future of theater will combine singing, dancing, and acting. With this new information, Nick and Nigel decide to write the world’s first musical.

Something Rottenis scheduled for performances at The Playhouse from March 7 through March 10, 2019.

The Sound of Music

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s all-time classic The Sound of Music is back with a brand new production at The Playhouse. Sing along with Maria and the von Trapp family to all the classic songs from the Oscar-winning Best Score, such as “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” and much more.

You can see The Sound of Music at The Playhouse from May 9 through May 12, 2019.
