We have had to make the difficult decision to cancel this year’s agency-wide summer picnic held in Fort Washington, PA. Due to the park’s COVID restrictions, we need to forgo our yearly tradition for one more year. However, we understand the significance of the picnic for those who use that time to have open adoption reunions and so in lieu of agency picnics, branch offices will be hosting Open Adoption Visits Only gatherings at local parks for families wanting to have visits with their children’s birth parents.

The first Sunday in June (June 6th) is when many families already plan to have visits. And so, on that date, the Central Pa, Allentown, Delaware, New Jersey and Wynnewood branch offices will be offering space and social worker presence at parks near their location to welcome families who are hosting open adoption reunions. COVID safety protocols such as wearing masks and social distancing will need to be followed. RSVPs will also be required this year.

RSVP is required by May 21st.

Contact the below AFTH staff member to RSVP and for details about the time and location.

In regards to the Connecticut, Virginia, and Pittsburgh Summer Picnics:

While these gatherings typically happen later in June, for this year we will also be limiting attendance only to those families who are having visits with birth families. For locations, dates and times, please see the below contact information. RSVP will be required by May 31st.

If you have any questions, please contact your social worker who would be able to help. Thank you for understanding. We look forward to returning to our traditional annual picnics in 2022.
