For our Virginia adoption agents, a good cup of coffee is one of the most important parts of our morning routine. When we’re on our way into the office, we like to stop for a cup to go, for that extra energy we need to get out days started right. In Suffolk and the surrounding areas, there are plenty of great coffee shops to choose from. Some of our favorite places include:
Stillwater House Tea Room
We’re starting our list with a tea room, but Stillwater House was simply too good to be left off the list. This elegant, classic tea room offers the chance to have a traditional tea party. Options include:
- Dessert Tea – A pot of tea served with a sweet bread or cake
- Donna’s Tea – A pot of tea, two sandwiches, two sweets, a cup of soup, and fresh fruit
- Donna’s Petite Tea – A pot of tea, two sandwiches, and two sweets
You can also rent Stillwater House out for special events, such as:
- Children’s Tea Parties
- Baby Shower Tea Parties
- Afternoon Tea Parties
- Other parties, small weddings, photo shoots, and more!
Brighter Day Cafe
Brighter Day Cafe is more of a sit-down restaurant, but if you’ve got time to relax and enjoy a great breakfast, this is one of our favorite spots in town. The coffee is always flavorful and strong, but the food is even better. They also have a warm ambiance and friendly staff, which makes you feel right at home. We love coming here on the weekend with our families for their delicious breakfast menu.
Some of our favorite items on the menu at Brighter Day Cafe include:
- Steak and cheese sub
- Cheeseburger with bacon
- Blueberry pancakes
- Eggs Benedict
- Western omelet
When you’re just looking for a quick cup to-go, few chains can match Dunkin’ Donuts. Service here is always quick and they offer coffee and other caffeinated drinks in a variety of flavors, along with a solid rotation of breakfast sandwiches and of course, their world famous donuts. Dunkin’ donuts has always been one of our favorite casual coffee chains and we frequently have a cup of Dunkin’ on our desks at work.
Located in nearby Chesapeake, Gather is worth a drive from Suffolk. This affordable yet trendy coffee house offers some of our favorite brews in the region, along with an excellent menu full of pastries, sandwiches, salads, and other items. If you’re looking for one of the best breakfasts in this part of Virginia, we highly recommend a trip to Gather.
Some of our favorites here include:
- Peanut Butter Strawberry Toast
- Spinach Feta Pastry
- Breakfast Tea Latte
- White Chocolate Raspberry Scones
- Banana Nut Crunch Toast
Bunny’s Restaurant opens bright and early at 6 a.m. each day and is a great place for a casual breakfast. We like to come here on the weekends or occasionally before heading into the office. The waitresses always keep plenty of coffee on rotation, which is simple but delicious.
