Glastonbury may be a small city, but it has an impressive amount of high-quality restaurants. Our Connecticut adoption agents think an enjoyable family dinner out is one of the best ways to bond together. We love trying new restaurants in Glastonbury and returning to old favorites. If you’re looking for a delicious meal out that your whole family will enjoy, we recommend the following options:
J Gilbert’s Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood
If you’re looking for an upscale dining option, J Gilbert’s is one of our favorite, albeit pricey, restaurants in Glastonbury. As you can tell from their name, they specialize in premium wood-fired steaks and seafood. We like going here for special occasions – it makes a great choice for birthday, graduation, or anniversary dinners. Their dishes are consistently cooked to perfection and packed with flavor, and the service is always extremely friendly.
Some of our favorite dishes here include:
- Ahi Tuna Tartare
- Iced Shellfish Platter
- Seared Georges Bank Sea Scallops
- Wood-Grilled Ribs
- Aussie Lamb Rack
Pizzeria Sassano
Glastonbury is full of amazing Italian restaurants, but Pizzeria Sassano stands out to us as the best of the bunch. The pizza is the main attraction here, but their menu is full of other delectable dishes. Prices are fairly affordable and much lower than you’d expect for the quality of food you’ll get. This is one of our favorite places for a casual family dinner.
We recommend trying the following items on Pizzeria Sassano’s menu:
- Anna’s Meatballs
- Three Cheese Garlic Bread
- Eggplant Parmesan Ciabatta
- Pepperoni Pie
- Grilled Chicken Pesto Pie
Max Fish
Max Fish is our favorite place for fresh seafood in Glastonbury. This is another pricey option that we usually reserve for special occasions, but every meal here is a memorable experience. Their menu features a wide range of seafood prepared expertly and in different forms.
Some of our favorite meals here have included:
- Bay Scallop Ceviche
- Jumbo Lump Crab Cake
- Lobster Cobb Salad
- Grilled Spanish Octopus
- Squid Ink Seafood Pasta
The Simple Greek
The Simple Greek offers affordable made-to-order Greek food and is one of our favorite options for a quick and casual dinner. The way you order is similar to what you’d expect at a subway – simple move down the line and tell the employee what you want in your bowl or pita.
You can choose between traditional gyro, chicken gyro, grilled steak, or grilled chicken as your protein. Toppings include:
- Village Salad
- Feta Cheese
- Red Onions
- Shredded Lettuce
- Tomatoes
- Pepperoncinis
- Cucumbers
- Garbanzo Beans
- Kalamata Olives
Finally, you have a choice of four sauces:
- Hummus
- Garlic Cream
- Tzatziki
- Greek Dressing
Pick & Mix
Pick & Mix is a chain restaurant offering quick, affordable, and delicious Korean food. As you probably can guess from their name, this is set up similarly to the Simple Greek. You pick a base of rice or noodles, along with vegetables and/or meat. Though it may be a chain restaurant, it doesn’t seem that way with the unassuming, no-frills set-up. We love visiting Pick & Mix when we’re looking for an affordable family dinner.
