Ready. Set. Soar.

Spring is here! And you can kick off the new season by joining us for our annual Find Her Footing 5k on Sunday, April 2nd.

Lace up your sneakers and get ready for fitness, fun and fundraising. Recruit your family, friends, and coworkers to join in the fun and support AFTH’s Birthmother Fund.

The race is suitable for runners/walkers of any level – new this year is the 1 Mile Super Hero Fun Run. The superhero themed run pays homage to Clark Kent; better known as Superman and his adoption story. Participants can dress up as their favorite superhero and run (or soar) their way through the course. But don’t worry, superhero costumes are not limited to the Super Hero Fun Run!

The benefiting Fund aids men and women who are experiencing financial hardships both before and after choosing adoption for their baby. About one-third of the birthparents we work with are parenting other children and often are facing financial hardships making it hard to secure basic needs, such as groceries, housing, toiletries, transportation fare and much more. AFTH created the Expecting and Birth Parent support fund to provide necessary and valuable services to both men women during and after the adoption process.

“Choosing adoption for my baby was the right thing. My C-section left me unable to work for 8 weeks. Without a paycheck, I couldn’t pay my rent. AFTH covered 2 months of rent so I could keep my apartment.” – Lori, birth mother

“Most 5K runs pride themselves on being “flat & fast” but this course is just the opposite. Just when you think you can take a break on a flat surface, think again! The hills present a challenge to even the most experienced runners. I always look forward to this 5K since it is so challenging, and I feel a sense of accomplishment at the finish after getting over all of the hills.” – Chris, adoptive father
