At Adoptions From The Heart, we offer valuable services such as counseling, mediation, and educational resources to support both sets of parents in their respective roles and journeys. We also like to include members of the triad whenever possible. Life’s best lessons are learned through experience. Life’s best lessons are taught from experience. Staying connected with the agency fosters a sense of community and mutual respect between all parties, ultimately leading to a more positive and fulfilling experience for everyone involved, especially the child.

On one side, Adoptive parents can benefit from the support and guidance provided by the agency, helping them navigate the complexities of open adoption and understand the importance of honoring the child’s birth family. On the other hand, birth parents can find comfort in knowing that the agency is there to facilitate communication and provide resources as needed. However, our goal here has always been to get clients involved in the educational aspects of the process, as no one can leave a more lasting impact than those who have experienced the same journey. As you dove into education (AFTHtv, The Podcast, Blogs, Social Media), reaching back is just as important.

With that being said, we have provided different ways for both adoptive parents and birth parents to get involved today.

OnDemand Webinars

OnDemand webinars are available with a plethora of adoption topics. This is not just for adoptive families but also extended family, professionals and friends. This is something you can do together or pass along to others who might need help understanding the process.

Heart To Heart Event Series

Three heart-to-heart live virtual events occur each year, so the adoption community can join together and hear from the experiences of members of the triad. This is your opportunity to share your story live, answer questions, and debunk misconceptions surrounding your story or journey through adoption.

Support Groups

Support groups are available for adoptive and birth parents to meet others with similar journeys. This is a fantastic way to encourage fellow triad members, share tips, give helpful advice, and more. Our support groups are a safe space where we can all unite and create lasting relationships.

AFTHtv & The AFTH Podcast

Much like the live Heart To Heart, this platform acts as another place for clients to share their stories, provide insight into the differences in one’s journey, share words of encouragement, and give tips and helpful, insightful advice based on personal and sometimes professional experiences.

Mentorship

Already, the birth parent mentoring program is a resource to connect expecting and birth parents and provide support by sharing their personal experiences. Adoptive parents can also be a resource to prospective parents and anyone for that matter.

Advocacy Program

For Birth Parents specifically, AFTH has designed a program to provide a platform for birth parents who want to volunteer time to share their experiences to help spread awareness about adoption and open adoption through a variety of different ways, including but not limited to the following: Social media adoption content, Sharing your story, Helping with outreach to local referral sources and more.

Open adoption can be incredible, allowing adoptive and birth parents to maintain a level of connection and communication throughout a child’s life. However, it can also be emotionally challenging and complex. If we all come together and take the necessary strides to be resources for fellow members of the adoption community, there’s nothing we can’t achieve as a community. Reach out to your social worker today for more information about how you can get involved at AFTH.
