Although various ideas circulate, there is no formal origin to the designation of the borough of Malvern. Malvern Hills in Worcestershire, England, and Malvern Hill in Virginia are the most common assumptions and history suggests the name was influenced by one of those two locations.

History

In the 17th century, Welsh immigrants acquired the property from William Penn and settled in the region. Soon after, the Paoli Massacre took place on September 20, 1777, in Malvern where British forces planned a surprise attack on the Wayne Encampment, killing a small amount of Americans.

What is known as the First Baptist Church of Malvern, was originally named the East Whiteland Baptist Church and relocated to its current location in 1835. The foundation of the borough that was previously known as the West Chester Intersection, has grown exponentially with tons of additions of trains, churches, small businesses, and restaurants.

Today, the borough of Malvern is home to a diverse range of both residential and industrial communities with tons of open fields, grasslands, parks, including a cultural and civic center for the community to enjoy.
