Bridgeville, PA

Located along Chartiers Creek, Bridgeville is a borough in Allegheny County in Pennsylvania with a small population of about 5,148 stated in the United States Census of 2010. It is also only 8 miles southwest of downtown Pittsburgh with a total area of 1.1 square miles. Bridgeville has three borders around the borough, Collier Township to the north, Upper St. Clair to the south, and South Fayette to the west.

History

The borough was named after the first bridge established at the crossing of Chartier Creek south of what is today known as Washington Avenue. In 1763, the area was previously named St. Clair Township, which was later split off, and the northern portion became Bridgeville. The borough continued to grow due to its rising mining activities in the late 19th century. On July 27, 1901, Bridgeville became incorporated as a borough.
