The 501 C-3 nonprofit adoption agency hosted a picnic for adoptive parents, birth parents & adoptees at Chesapeake City Park Fun Forrest.
On Sunday June 23, 2019 families connected through domestic infant adoption came together for a day of fun at Adoptions From The Heart‘s (AFTH) Virginia office picnic. This year’s picnic at Chesapeake City Park Fun Forrest was definitely one for the books! Adoptees, adoptive parents and birth parents from the Greater Chesapeake area and beyond reunited for a day of family fun and catching up. While there might have been a smaller number of attendees this year, AFTH Va adoption social worker Nicole Fowler, BS has nothing but positive thoughts about this year’s picnic.
“VA annual picnic had 10 AP/BP visits with multiple extended birth family members joining, total of 80 attendees. Many families did visits on their own this year, as we switched from Saturday to Sunday due to scheduling with the city park. Although we missed seeing everyone (100 attendees last year), we have found that some birth families like that they are growing in their openness by meeting ‘outside’ of the agency picnic. We had perfect weather and a wonderful group!” said Fowler.
Everyone who came out to the AFTH Virginia picnic have either placed a child for adoption or adopted a child through our Chesapeake office. Check out some great photos taken at this year’s picnic!
