I think I want to register my business, but what exactly is the Paper Heart Project?
Join the Paper Heart Project this November in honor of National Adoption Month! When you register as a sponsor or make a personal donation you can:
- Spread Adoption Awareness in Your Community
- Support Expecting Parents in Need
- Celebrate the Beautiful Families Adoption Creates
Local small business & community members show their support for National Adoption Month and Adoptions From The Heart by joining our Paper Heart Project ever November. For each $1 donation by patrons, a paper heart will display in the business, spreading adoption awareness.
So if my business does register, we’re supporting National Adoption Month. What is that?
National Adoption Month began as a week-long celebration in Massachusetts in 1976. Since then it has evolved into a month-long event! Each year, the President of the United States makes a proclamation to announce that November is National Adoption Month. This year, National Adoption DAY is celebrated on November 19, 2016. Consequently, thousands of adoptions are finalized in court rooms all across the United States on this special occasion. Every year this celebration grows larger as more and more states and courtrooms become involved. Whether you’re an adoptee, birth parent, adoptive parent, advocate, or you just simply support adoption, this November join us in celebrating National Adoption Month!
How local businesses can register as a sponsor
Step 1: Register
First, register online at afth.org through our National Adoption Month page OR email/mail/fax in your registration form.
Form Requires:
- Number of paper hearts you are requesting
- Contact Information
- Email us a logo & link to your website for promotion
**AFTH mails Paper Heart materials to participating businesses by the end of October
Registration Deadline: Friday, October 14, 2016
Step 2: Promote the Project
Once you are registered, promote your support of National Adoption Month & AFTH any way that you can! While finding your own creative ways to promote, you can also contact us for any additional signage or promotional ideas. Furthermore, to thank you for your support, AFTH will highlight your business through www.afth.org, Facebook, Twitter, our newsletter, and any press generated by the Paper Heart Project!
Step 3: Accept Donations
Request $1 donation per heart. Donors may also write their name on a heart to show support for our cause. Please use a system of your choice for recording and collecting donations. In addition, please display the paper hearts anywhere you would like! Businesses can collect donations from November 1-30, 2016.
Step 4: Return Donations
Finally, we request all donations be sent by cash or check, along with any unused hearts by the return date. Also, remember that we will recognize and promote final donations in the first weeks of December.

As a result of your help, all proceeds will be donated to AFTH’s Expecting & Birth Parent Support Fund. This fund supports men and women choosing to place their child for adoption. The monetary support from the fund helps them in their education, counseling, medical care and guidance, living essentials as well as other special needs.
