Meet Keyur Adhyapak, a resilient father whose journey reminds us of the strength that emerges from life’s toughest decisions. He made the difficult decision to place his son for adoption and is now pursuing a career in mortuary science. Keyur’s journey is a testament to the resilience of birth parents.

Keyur always knew he wanted to be a father, but his path took a new direction. When he and his girlfriend found themselves unable to parent, they made the difficult decision to place their son for adoption through Adoptions From The Heart. He embraced this change, but he was in an extremely dark place.

Despite his emotional turmoil, Keyur knew he needed to take the next step in his career. “I also felt the need to do something with my lie. I don’t currently enjoy what I do for work and I know that I have the potential to do better.” His motivation went beyond personal aspirations; it was a tribute to his son. His chosen path reflects his desire to positively impact his community during one of the most challenging times in people’s lives. Keyur aspires to become a mortician, a profession that allows him to offer support to individuals and families during their darkest hours. “The reason I was drawn to this type of career is because I wanted to do something I felt mattered and to feel like I was making a difference in my community.” He believes that helping people through their grief is a way to honor his son and show him the love that led him to make the difficult decision of adoption. “The road to anything worthwhile is never easy and I feel like I’m up for the challenge”

The struggles faced by birth parents both prior to and after placing a child for adoption are rarely discussed openly, but Adoptions From The Heart recognizes this gap and strives to help address those needs. In 2014, Adoptions From The Heart created a Birth Parent Scholarship Fund to help those who have placed through our agency and are pursuing a higher education. Scholarships can be used to offset the cost of university, college, trade school, or accreditation and certificate programs. The scholarship committee reviews applications twice a year and awards scholarships for spring and fall semesters. Since its inception, Adoptions From The Heart’s Birth Parent Scholarship Fund has awarded $62,156 to assist birth parents in the pursuit of the future they seek through education.

Throughout the scholarship application process, Keyur’s passion for his future education and career shined through. This dedication is exactly what we look for when awarding this scholarship. We are so happy to announce Keyur Adhyapak as our Fall 2023 Birth Parent Scholarship Winner! On behalf of everyone from Adoptions From The Heart, we congratulate Keyur and give our best wishes for a successful academic year.
