Celebrating National Adoption Month & Supporting the Birth Parent Scholarship Fund

This past Thursday, November 9th, Adoptions From The Heart’s Wynnewood office hosted their first annual Benefit Concert! This event was held at Manayunk Brewing Company from 7:00pm-10:00pm. The occasion was held to honor National Adoption Month while also raising money for our Birth Parent Scholarship Fund.

Under This Fire

The 1940s

The venue, which was located on the top floor of Manayunk Brewing Company, was decorated from top to bottom. Each dining table was accompanied with beautiful purple centerpieces, heart shaped balloons filled the room, and the registrations and raffle tables were filled with all sorts of AFTH paraphernalia!  Our guests started flowing in around 6:45pm and continued to until around 8:00pm. In total, we had around 130 people in attendance! Guests enjoyed snapchatting our beautifully decorated venue and amazing live performances, while also taking advantage of the creative snapchat geotag filter!

A wonderful night

The opening band was called The 1940s and began playing around 7:00pm. The next band and main performance was called Under This Fire and started playing around 8:30pm. Both bands did a wonderful job at entertaining the audience and creating a fun and lively atmosphere! While listening to the bands, guests also enjoyed delicious drinks and light appetizers.

The donations that we received over the past couple months from local businesses made up our two raffle baskets. The raffles were coined “Food Frenzy” and “Philly Fun.” They were comprised of donations from different restaurants and local fun things to do around Philadelphia. We announced the winners around 9:30.

This event exceeded all of our expectations! Our original estimated profit was $500 and we ended up with over $1,400. We are so proud to announce this because our entire profit will be benefiting our Birth Parent Scholarship Fund, which helps birth parents pursue a higher education. We also were fortunate enough to have 6ABC and NBC10 cover the event!

This event would not have been such a success without the help of our sponsors and volunteers! Students from Villanova’s Alpha Phi Omega donated their time to help out with our event. Our sponsors were able to raise $975, which also exceeded our $500 sponsor goal. Our sponsors for this event included: Yapple Yogurt, Entrust, Petrelli, Previtera, & Schimmel Law, Arthur Hall Insurance, and Goodwest. Thanks to all who came out and indulged while promoting a good cause! We hope to see you all next year!
