As I write this it was exactly a year ago when I found out I was 9 months pregnant. A few days later I was in labor, and a few days after that I gave birth to my beautiful daughter, Diana Rose. Clearly, these were not my post-grad plans.

Although I could tell you so many stories about my birth and adoption journey, I want to share my tattoo that represents my new family. I had no idea how beautiful life could be before I met Diana and her adoptive parents, Ben and Chris. My brilliant tattoo artist realized that all our initials are ABCD, and he got the idea to represent each of us with children’s playing blocks.

I am so grateful to have this tattoo as I navigate through open adoption. The biggest honor in my life will always be being Diana’s mother.
